KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) -

A Kingsport City Schools student is facing discipline following the discovery of threatening graffiti in a boy’s bathroom at John Sevier Middle School, according to a school system official.

Andy True, chief information officer for Kingsport City Schools, said the graffiti was found late yesterday and prompted a search of the building by Kingsport Police.

The graffiti indicated a potential threat on Halloween.

Nothing was found during that police search, nor was anything found in a second police search Thursday morning.

Police presence was increased at the school Thursday.

The exact message contained in the graffiti was not made known.

Parents were notified of the graffiti this morning, though True said he was not aware of decreased attendance.

Teachers and staff were on alert today but True said class was held as normal.

Later in the day, True said the student responsible for the graffiti was identified and school administrators were determining how to proceed with regards to school discipline and/or criminal charges.
