TN lawmaker accused of reckless endangerment avoids jail time, gets probation

Posted: Updated:

A Tennessee lawmaker received his punishment Thursday after a jury found him guilty of reckless endangerment last month.

Fifth District State Representative David Hawk will avoid jail time on his reckless endangerment conviction, but a judge did sentence him to 2 years probation and 150 hours of community service.

The judge also ordered Hawk to pay $1500 in restitution to his former wife, the victim in the case. Hawk must also pay all court costs and has been told to stay away from his former wife.

Hawk previously told News Channel 11 he was considering appealing the conviction.
