SSU Homecoming Day Begins With Parade

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA -

Savannah State University students and alumni showed off their tiger pride during the annual homecoming parade.  Marching bands, floats, and decorated cars made their way through downtown.

The chill in the air didn't keep bystanders home as they lined the streets waving and cheering. An SSU graduate said it was worth waking up early to celebrate her Alma Mater.

"To be an SSU alumni it's always about family, the education because like they say you can get anywhere from here and I'm loving it," said Sonia England.

This year's parade Grand Marshal was 1957 graduate Laura Irwin and the Honorary Parade Marshal was 1950 graduate Bernice Byers, both of Dublin, Georgia.
