Ava’s Law Rally in Garden City

Posted: Updated:
GARDEN CITY, GA -

Momentum is building to get Georgia Lawmakers on the side of children with Autism.
WSAV has been following Toombs County mom Anna Bullard's battle with lawmakers for Autism insurance.
Her daughter Ava was diagnosed at 2- and- a- half, but when insurance dropped her-- Ava became the poster child for Autism in Georgia.
Tonight Bullard brought her message about medical insurance coverage for autism therapies to Chatham County.
These parents now have new hope for their children.
Bullard says every child deserves quality coverage.
"Treatment early on makes a difference between a child being able to talk or not.  Independent or not, go to school or not, and that's why this is so important and families are so burden with knowing there's a treatment that they can't get it for their kids. It's unfair.  So we're up against the big insurance companies and that's tough but I'm up for the fight."
Right now the bill is in the insurance mandate committee.
Hope is they will vote yes to move this bill forward.
Whether they do or not parents look to get a favorable vote from lawmakers in January.
