Effingham Traffic Stop Ends in Meth Bust

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA -

A traffic stop ends in a meth arrest and several charges for a suspect on Tuesday afternoon in Effingham County.

A deputy become suspicious after pulling Watson Thad Waters over on Brogdon Road in Guyton. The strong smell of marijuana prompted a search of Water's vehicle which uncovered methamphetamines and items used to manufacture the drug.

It turns out that the meth arrest is nothing new the suspect. "Watson has an extensive criminal history including methamphetamine related charges in both Georgia and South Carolina, " said Effingham Sheriff's Spokesman David Ehsanipoor.

Officials say Waters also had an active warrant out of Chatham County. A search of the 41-year-old's home also uncovered a meth lab.

Watson is charged with trafficking illegal drugs, possession of methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, and possession of tools during the commission of a crime. He's being held in the Effingham County Jail.
