U.S. Attorney Opens Federal Investigation Into Kendrick Johnson Death

Posted: Updated:

The U.S. Attorney for Middle Georgia, Michael Moore, announced Thursday that a Federal investigation will be conducted into the death of Valdosta teenager Kendrick Johnson.

Officials say they will conduct a complete review of the original case file and new developments.

Authorities are asking for anyone with 'new and relevant facts' to come forward in the case.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting the U.S. Attorney with the investigation.

Attorneys for the parents of Kendrick Johnson, the 17-year-old high school student who in January of this year was found dead inside a rolled-up wrestling mat in the Lowndes High School gym, will announce that they have filed legal documents officially requesting that a judge order a Coroner's Inquest into Johnson's death. The family and attorneys Chevene B. King, Jr. and Benjamin Crump, will address the media at 11:30aET to discuss the filing and their next legal moves in the case.
