Code Red alerts residents to neighborhood emergencies

Posted: Updated:

If there's an emergency in our area, Columbus city officials say they are prepared. The city is using social media to remind the community of ways to stay safe and informed.

Officials took to Facebook recently to let the community know about Code Red, a free program allowing the community to receive neighborhood-based alerts for missing children, crime, severe weather and other time sensitive information.

Messages can then be received by phone, text message, e-mail or social media.

The Columbus Consolidated Government shared this link on their Facebook page last week. From the page, the community can signup for alerts.

The community can also receiving breaking news and severe weather alerts in their inbox and on their smartphones from WRBL News 3.
