Savannah Named One of Top 10 Cities in US

Posted: Updated:

A big honor for the city of Savannah from a top travel website.

The November 2013 issue of Condé Nast Traveler celebrates the 25th annual Readers' Choice Awards where Savannah was ranked 9th among U.S. Cities.

For more than 25 years, Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards have been a coveted seal of approval for vacation destinations from the world's most discriminating travelers. This year, more than 47,000 readers participated voting Savannah among the Top 10.

Here is how Savannah ranked:

Readers' Choice Rating: 78.6

Culture: 84.2

Friendliness: 82.8

Atmosphere: 83.6

Restaurants: 81.2

Lodging: 75.0

Shopping: 62.2

Even though Savannah dropped from last year's spot at number 7, Savannah has "got it all," said one reader. Thanks to its mix of history, art, shopping, nightlife, and "delicious food," "you can't have a bad time."

"This recognition reinforces Savannah's reputation as a world-class travel destination," said Joe Marinelli, president of Visit Savannah, "And this acknowledgement is extra special because it comes from travelers and the readers of Condé Nast.  With Savannah and Charleston both being in the top 10 shows how this entire region is becoming the destination of choice by discerning travelers."
