JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

Johnson City and ETSU police are investigating two similar armed robberies that happened early this morning.

A 21-year-old student at ETSU was robbed at gunpoint of electronics, according to a police report from the university.

An unidentified student parked his car around 12:30 a.m. in parking lot 11. Shortly afterwards, a vehicle with five men wearing dark clothing, two of whom were brandishing guns, drove into the same lot.  One of the gunmen ordered the victim to get down on his knees.

The other man pointed a gun at him, too. The student's backpack and laptop were taken and the men left in the car heading east on Southwest Ave.

Witnesses said the suspects wore dark clothing.

One had orange shirt covering face and head. One had a black cloth or shirt covering his face and head.

According to the police report, there appeared to be three other men in the vehicle. One of those men may have had a gray cloth covering his face.

Johnson City police also reported an armed robbery on Plymouth Road around 2 a.m. The description of the vehicle and suspects in that robbery were similar to the ETSU robbery.

If you have any information authorities are asking you to call the Johnson City Police at 423-434-6166
