West Point teen in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself in the head

WEST POINT, Ga. -

An 18-year-old West Point teen is in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself in the head Sunday.

Authorities said the incident happened just before 11 a.m.at a house on East 11th Street.

When officers arrived, they discovered Altaveious Tymaine Carr suffering from a gunshot wound to the right temple area. They said he was playing in his bedroom with a .22 caliber weapon when he accidentally fired it, shooting himself.

Carr has been transported to the Midtown Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
