5 Injured in Overnight Accident on St. Helena

St. Helena Island, SC -

A woman and 4 children were injured in an early morning crash on St. Helena island, and authorities say, two of those children were not in car seats or wearing seatbelts.

Authorities with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say it happened around 1:35a.m. on Folly road. Emergency crews from Lady's Island/ St. Helena EMS found the family trapped inside the overturned vehicle. And all were injured... No word right now on the severity of those injuries.

Officials say 30-year-old, Francia Pompilus of St. Helena was traveling on Folly rd. when she lost control of the car, struck a cement culvert, and the car rolled several times. At the time, there were children in the vehicle, ages 4yrs, 2yrs, 1yr, and infant.

 Pompilus was charged with "driving too fast or conditions," and 2 "unrestrained child" tickets.
