Jury seated in Johnson Co. murders prompted by Facebook "de-friending"

JOHNSON COUNTY, TN (WJHL-TV) -

A jury has been seated and opening arguments are underway in the murder trial of Marvin Potter.

Potter was indicted in the Johnson County murders last year of Billy Payne and Billie Jean Hayworth. Investigators say the couple was murdered in front of their six-month-old child. 

Johnson County Sheriff Mike Reece previously told us Potter's daughter sparked the killing after being "de-friended" on Facebook.

Potter faces two counts of first-degree murder. Three other people charged in the murder will be in court October 29th - Jamie Lynn Curd, Jennelle Potter, and Barbara Mae Potter. That's when the state will make a motion to try all three suspects in one trial.
