CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

Thousands gathered in Chapel Hill Saturday for the 17th annual Walk for Education.

The walk was hosted to raise money for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School System.

This year's walk raised more than $120,000; 85 percent of the money collected from each school will go back to that particular school.

Some parents say that money is needed now more than ever.

"It's great," said parent Cayce Clark. "I mean, it seems like there are cuts every year. So supporting any way we can is great."

The walk spanned from UNC's campus to the school district's offices, where a carnival was setup with inflatables and food.

Last year's Walk for Education raised $90,000, and more than 6,000 students, parents and community members participated.
