2 teens arrested for smashing glass, stealing candy at Clayton park

Posted: Updated:
CLAYTON, N.C. -

Two teenage boys have been arrested and charged with doing $6,000 in damage at  Clayton Community Park at 1075 Amelia Church Road last month.

The vandals left glass scattered near baseball fields and stole hundreds of dollars in candy.

On Thursday, Clayton Police announced 18-year-old Alec Preston and 17-year-old Patrick Pearce, both of the Willow Springs area, were arrested Wednesday and charged with Felonious Breaking and Entering, Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and Damage to Real Property. They were booked in the Johnston County jail, Pearce on a $41,000 bond and Preston on a $52,000 bond.

The thick glass blocks of the park's concession stand were shattered so the teens could get to the candy stored inside.

The kitchen equipment inside was not damaged.
