SAVANNAH, GA -

Coming up on Monday its lights, camera, and action on Tybee as Spongebob SquarePants 2 starts filming.

While the feature film will bring an economic boost to the area, there are some other productions already doing that.

"Still photography and commercial work is one of our staples especially in some of the slower months of the year when we don't have as many features shooting," said the Savannah Film Office's location specialist, Will Hammargren.

Will Hammargren, with the Savannah Film Office, said the production industry is attracted to this area because of the state's film tax break, the weather, and beauty. Belk just wrapped up a commercial shoot in downtown Savannah transforming the streets into a winter wonderland.

"A single feature probably does about the same amount of money as all the commercial work done in a year but if you add up the commercial work, the still photography work, and all the smaller projects together it's still a significant amount of money," said Hammargren.

The crew for HGTV's Property Virgins is shooting six episodes in Savannah and setting up camp here for about three weeks.

"They are staying at our hotels and they are buying food," said Hammargren.

Hammargren said last year the city averaged about two production shoots every day.
