The Jasper County District just released a statement regarding the passing of athletic director, Mr. James Gardner. Gardner passed away Thursday night, and the statement reads as follows:

"The Jasper County School District is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of its athletic director, Mr.  James Gardner. Mr. Gardner passed away Thursday evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. Mr. Gardner was 60 years old. He began working in the Jasper County School District on July 1, 2010 as Athletic Director. He served as a member of the Jasper County School District Board of Trustees from Nov. 13, 2006 until June 28, 2010. While serving as athletic director Mr. Gardner was instrumental in helping student athletes go on to sign  Division 1 college scholarships as well as other college scholarships to further their athletic and academic careers."

The statement comes from JCSD spokesperson, Shellie Murdaugh.

District officials announced Thursday night that their athletic director, Mr. James Gardner has passed away.

The district says they are 'deeply saddened' by this sudden loss.

They say he passed away Thursday evening.
