Posted: Updated:

Nearly 450-thousand dollars - that's how much Memorial Health says the city, county and police department owes the hospital for care provided those in custody. The hospital filed a lawsuit against Savannah, Chatham County and Metro Police on Friday - saying the bills have gone unpaid since July of 2010. The hospital is also requesting reimbursement for legal expenses. The city's attorney tells news 3 they are working with Memorial to resolve the issues.

Memorial's CEO provided this statement to News 3:

"We are hopeful that this suit can be resolved quickly. We appreciate the city's recent efforts to address this issue."
