Every bride wants her wedding day to go off without a hitch but there were some tense moments before Summer Copeland's big day. On Saturday, at the Cedar Crossing Church of God in Uvalda, Georgia some quick thinking saved a little girl. As the bridesmaids were taking pictures, one-year-old Ella Herndon wandered off into a nearby pond almost drowning.

"I felt like I was moving but I wasn't moving fast enough and luckily our friend Haley was there," said mom Kristina Herndon.

The Maid of Honor, Haley Carey, said she forgot about the bridesmaid photos they were taking and acted.

"She had just fallen in but just that quick she was face down completely under water," said Carey.

Carey's quick reaction saved Herndon's daughter from drowning.

"It's just that mother instinct. It's easier when it's not yours I guess because you just react quicker. Being a mom I can think being in that situation how I would be thankful for someone to be there," said Carey.

As the tense moments unfolded outside, the bride was inside about to get a big shock.

"She was soaking wet from the waist down," said Copeland.

Copeland said she's thankful there was a happy ending.

"Everybody wants their day to go perfect but it's okay, as long as she was okay, that's all that mattered," said Copeland.

The ceremony went on as planned with Carey sporting a damp look.

"When I was walking down the aisle you could hear my boots sloshing you know because there was water still in them," said Carey.

Ella's mom said she's glad she only had to shed happy tears.

"I couldn't stop thanking her enough. Every time I saw her I said thank you, thank you, thank you," said Herndon.
