UPDATE: Police ID Body Pulled from Savannah River

SAVANNAH, GA -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say the body found floating in the Savannah River Tuesday has been identified as a 15 year old Savannah boy who left home Saturday night.

Police say dental records were used to confirm the identity of Jonathan Brown.

He lived in the 200 block of South Avalon Drive.

Police say Brown was seen sitting along the river Sunday morning around 10 a.m.

Witnesses reported hearing a splash and then saw him in the water.

They tried to throw a rope to him but were unable to reach him, police said.

He was found a few hundred feet upriver Tuesday morning.

Authorities are responding to a report of a body found in the Savannah River along River Street.

Witnesses say they spotted something in the river near a boat, alongside the shore.

Authorities have been searching for a man that reportedly fell into the water Sunday morning, in the same area.

Multiple emergency crews are on the scene and have established crime scene tape.
