SAVANNAH, GA -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say the body found floating in the Savannah River Tuesday has been identified as a 15 year old Savannah boy who left home Saturday night.

Police say dental records were used to confirm the identity of Jonathan Brown.

He lived in the 200 block of South Avalon Drive.

Police say Brown was seen sitting along the river Sunday morning around 10 a.m.

Witnesses reported hearing a splash and then saw him in the water.

They tried to throw a rope to him but were unable to reach him, police said.

He was found a few hundred feet upriver Tuesday morning.
