Pin Point Seafood Festival Serves Up Local Favorites with a Side of History

SAVANNAH, GA -

Crowds were steady as hundreds came out to dine near the Moon River over the weekend during the first Pin Point Seafood Festival.

Folks with an appetite for fresh food and an interest in the history of the quiet, close-knit community gathered just off the Diamond Causeway Saturday for good eats and a good cause.

Many of the residents are descendents of freed slaves who sailed from Ossabaw and other islands to make a home inland.

Pin Point is also the birth place of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Sweet Field of Eden Baptist Church sponsored what they hope will be an annual event.

Proceeds from this year's festival benefit Savannah's Greenbriar Children's Center.
