KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) -

Update

A community continues to mourn the loss of 'Missy' Lambert of Kingsport.

Jessi Odum was a good friend of Lambert's and continues to struggle with the reality that in the blink of an eye she lost a friend.

"You expect that you're going to wake up and this is all going to be over and she's going to be there and the sad truth is she's not," said Odum.

Missy Lambert was killed after an SUV ran a red light and slammed into her car on Fort Henry Drive near the Wal-Mart.

"She was an all around great person that had an infectious smile that brought joy to everybody," said Odum.

Missy Lambert was in charge of the youth league at Warriors Path Bowling.

It was a passion for bowling -- that was only rivaled by the love she showed for her family.

"She was the best mother any child could ever have and she was the best step mother. She had 4 step children," Odum, "everybody is going to miss her terribly."

This will be the second fatal accident on Fort Henry Drive in just one week. Both accidents occurred just a quarter mile away from each other. But, according to the Kingsport Police, the accident were all the result of driver error.

"Other than the fact that we had two fatal crashes on Fort Henry drive within a week's time. There really isn't a whole lot of correlation other than the close proximity and the fact that driver error was involved in both cases," said Kingsport Police Spokesman, Tom Patton.

Warpath bowling lanes has set up a memorial fund at the business.

All funds would go to help Lambert's family.

Kingsport police are investigating the second fatal accident on Fort Henry Drive in one week. The police department says Melissa A. Lambert, 41 of Kingsport, was killed when her vehicle was struck in the driver's side by a Jeep Cherokee that ran a red light.

The accident happened Saturday just before 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Thornton Drive.

Police say Jeremy Sturgill, 36, of Jonesville, Virginia, was heading northbound in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee on Fort Henry Drive.

When the light turned green on Thornton Drive, a Chevrolet Malibu went through the intersection, but Sturgill failed to stop - hitting the Malibu. The Malibu rotated counter-clockwise and subsequently hit two other vehicles, a 2010 Honda Accord and a 2013 Jeep Patriot - both in the southbound lanes of Fort Henry Drive.

Lambert, the driver of the Malibu, died as a result of their injuries.

Sturgill and the passenger received non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the Honda and the Jeep Patriot were not injured.
