RALEIGH, N.C. -

The suspect in the early morning break-in and vandalism that occurred over the weekend at the Nature Resource Center wing of the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences turned himself in late Sunday night.

Joshua Matt Pace, 23, of Raleigh, was arrested by State Capitol Police and charged with breaking and entering and damage to property.

Police say a fire alarm activated inside of the Nature Research Center around 3:34 a.m. Sunday.

When the Raleigh Fire Department arrived, they found water flowing from an upper floor stairwell and other evidence of vandalism.

The Nature Research Center was closed Sunday due to the water damage, but it is expected to reopen Monday at 9 a.m.

Pace turned himself in Sunday night after surveillance camera photos were released by the media. He was placed in the Wake County Detention Center in lieu of $1,500 bond.

No other suspects are being sought in this case.
