WASHINGTON -

Raleigh-Durham International Airport is getting grant money from a federal agency to complete the next phase of a project.

U.S. Senator Kay Hagan announced Thursday that RDU has been selected to receive a $2.7 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to complete the second phase of the rehabilitation of the Terminal 1 air carrier apron.

The carrier apron is the area where planes load and unload passengers and airplanes are stored and refueled.
