EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA -

A police chase in part of Effingham County ended in a fiery crash Wednesday night.

It happened on Kolic Helmey Road in front of South Effingham Woods, near Hodgeville Road.

The suspect's car ran into the ditch after a chase was broken off, and then it burst into flames, according to a deputy.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames within minutes of arriving on the scene.

Deputies say the suspect apparently ran because had a suspended license.
