Meeting planned to unveil Forrest Road improvements

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. -

A public meeting will be held Monday, September 23, 2013 to reveal tentative plans to make road improvements near the Regency Park subdivision.

Rick Jones of the Planning department told News 3 this a small part of a larger project to improve the area. Jones said residents have complained it's hard to get onto Forrest Road from Regency Drive in peak traffic. He said this is a safety concern for the residents.

Jones said part of the plan is to re-align one of the intersections in the area for better flow of traffic.

Ultimately, bridges will be improved, and Forrest road widened where it becomes two lanes at Morris and Edgewood.

The bidding process could start in 2015. Jones said it would take about a year to make all of the improvements. The work could be done by 2016 or 2017.

The meeting will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at at 2423 Woodruff farm Road from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
