ELLENWOOD, Ga. -- The Ellenwood Police chief says that a girl abducted from her home during an armed robbery is found alive and that 2 suspects are in custody.
Clayton County Police Chief Gregory Porter says Ayvani Hope Perez has been found safe in Conyers, outside Atlanta, and reunited with her family. He also says two suspects are in custody.
Police say the girl's mother tried to hide the 14-year-old girl and her 15-year-old brother, but the armed men found them in the house.
Clayton County police say the two men entered the Ellenwood home through a back door around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Officer Phong Nguyen said the home invaders demanded money and jewelry. When the woman said she didn't have any, 1 of the men shot and killed the family dog.
Police say they then took 14-year-old Ayvani Hope Perez.
