Update: Alleged Gunman Shot By Police Officer Dies

SAVANNAH, GA -

Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police say the alleged gunman shot by a police officer Saturday morning has died.  The shooting happened just before 10 a.m. The man who was shot and killed has been identified as 56-year-old Samuel Frazier.

Police spokesman Julian Miller said the shooting took place at a house behind Crossroad Animal Hospital on Amy Street. Police had surrounded the house just before the shooting.

SCMPD said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the incident. Police Chief Willie Lovett is said to have requested GBI involvement to insure transparency in the case.
