Safe Kids Savannah Holding Free Seat Check

Posted: Updated:

Safe Kids Savannah will participate in National Seat Check Saturday on Saturday, September 21, by holding a free child safety seat check from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the parking lot of the Toys R Us located at 7400 Abercorn Street in Savannah. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be available to examine child safety seats for recalls and to ensure correct installation in cars, free of charge. The event is being held as part of National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week which takes place from September 15-21.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children ages 2-14 and the leading cause of injury-related death for children under two. Each year an estimated 2,446 children die in motor vehicle crashes. When installed and used correctly, child car seats and seat belts can prevent injuries and save lives. Children are more likely to be properly restrained when the driver is buckled up with a seat belt. National Seat Check Saturday is an opportunity for parents and parents-to-be to have their car seats checked for proper installation by Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians.

The event is free and open to the public and no appointment is necessary. For more information, please call 350-1118.
