Coastal Sunrise: Top 3 on 3

Posted: Updated:

Here's a quick look at your Top 3 on 3 stories you'll need to know before heading out this morning.

A would-be child sex predator is behind bars this morning after he was busted on Thursday in Effingham County. Investigators say the Savannah man was on Facebook trying to arrange a sexual rendezvous with a mother and her five-year old daughter. The Effingham County mother quickly turned the conversation over to investigators and that's when the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force got involved. Then, the connection 30-year old George Vickery had hoped to make, was really with an undercover decoy who led him to handcuffs and a trip downtown.

Also, New Jersey residents are faced with a major cleanup this morning, after a massive fire destroyed 80-percent of the Seaside Heights Boardwalk  on Thursday. The famous attraction was recently resurrected after Superstorm Sandy last year. Officials say the fire started at an ice cream shop quickly spread and destroyed everything in its path, which includes more than 50 businesses. Thick black smoke from the intense fire could be seen for at least seven miles. Fortunately no serious injuries have been reported .

Plus, WSAV is adding another team member to our "Feed the Need" campaign for  the Second Harvest Food Bank.  Last week, the freezer at the food bank collapsed, spoiling thousands of pounds of food. Now, WSAV, Kroger Grocery Stores and the Savannah Sand Gnats are partnering to restock Second Harvest's shelves with canned goods.  Tonight, you can bring your donations to the Sand Gnats game tonight at 7, at Grayson Stadium, and you'll receive a buy one get one free ticket to the game. The foodbank says the items they need most are canned protein and peanut butter.
