Raleigh tattoo parlor accused of targeting minors

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

A tattoo parlor in southeast Raleigh is under investigation after evidence surfaced the parlor tattooed minors and employed artists with expired licenses.

Raleigh police officers raided Risk Takerz L.L.C. in the 2800 block of New Birch Drive this week.  Police seized tattoo guns, expired permits, computers and cash.  A search warrant shows police believe there is probable cause to believe the parlor employed artists with expired licenses and performed their work on minors, which is a class 2 misdemeanor under North Carolina law.

Risk Takerz is located less than a quarter mile away from Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School.  The search warrant alleges "numerous known underage persons" have been tattooed there.  A Risk Takerz employee declined to comment on camera, but denied ever tattooing teenagers.

Students we talked to at neighboring Southeast Raleigh High, however, told WNCN a number of high school students had gotten tattoos at the parlor, some as young as 13-years-old.

Risk Takerz remains open.
