One man is in custody facing arson charges in connection with a house fire in Effingham County. On August 13, 2013 Sheriff's deputies responded to a residence on Sandhill Road on a report of a structure fire. The residence sustained extensive damage.

"During the investigation by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal, it was determined that the fire was intentionally set," Sheriff's spokesman David Ehsanipoor said. "Investigators believe that an ignitable liquid was used to start the fire, Ehsanipoor said.
