Huge Lightning Strike Leaves Thousands Without Power

A bolt of lightning knocked out power to around 120,000 homes in southern California Monday.

Here at home, flooding has been the main weather story.  But out west, a light show is getting all of the attention.

Lightning struck a major bank of transformers in California, causing it to burst into flames.

Firefighters had to battle the blaze for an hour.

The power company says the damage to its facilities from the storms was significant.

Many parts of the state saw violent thunderstorms.  Giant forks of lightning were captured striking the ground.

More storms are expected the next few days.
