The Young & The Restless to honor memory of Jeanne Cooper with passing of "Katherine Chancellor"

Posted: Updated:

CBS says its flagship daytime soap, The Young And The Restless, will honor the memory of its late matriarch, Jeanne Cooper, with the passing of her beloved character Katherine Chancellor.

The series of episodes begin Friday, August 16 at 12:30 PM, ET on WNCT-TV.

The multi-episode tribute starts with Katherine's loved ones receiving postcards asking them to gather at the Chancellor Estate, where they learn that their dear friend and family member passed away while on vacation with her husband, Murphy (Michael Fairman).

"In the coming weeks, Katherine's memory will be honored in several very special ways that allow us to pay tribute to Jeanne in the remarkable manner she deserves," said Y&R Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps. "It is an extraordinary story that will bring the residents of Genoa City together to remember this woman they all loved."

The Emmy Award-winning Cooper, who played Katherine Chancellor for almost 40 years, was the shows longest-running cast member before her death in May.

The Young And The Restless is the #1-rated daytime drama. It's produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
