Home That Makes You Healthier

When it comes to looking for or building a new home, many of us have a list of needs and wants.  But a new company is taking this list to a whole new level.  Healthy-home company Delos says its homes will make you healthier, just by living in them.

The latest constructions include floors that will help your back, perfectly pure air, and an endless array of other unbelievable features.  It's all part of the "WELL Building Standard."

"The simplest way to understand what this home is capable of doing is to think of it like a 24-hour carwash that works on the human body, " says Paul D. Scialla, a co-founder and the managing partner of Delos.

Delos has now completed its first residential building in the Meatpacking District of NYC.

The first feature is the air.  It is cleaned via a UV Air Sanitizer that kills airborne bacteria and a Particle Filter that traps allergens.  Also, large plants are everywhere for botanical filtration.

Next, the floors are made with a floating construction and cork overlays "for maximum lumbar support."

Now for the kitchen and dining room... these could be the most health-boosting area of all.  There is a wheat grass shelf and juicing station, and there are window planters full of fresh herbs.  Counter tops are constructed to eliminate bacteria-trapping crevices.  There's a high-powered exhaust hood that banishes nitrogen dioxide, and a carbon filter ensures that every drop of water from the tap is pure.

In the bathroom, it nearly doubles as a personal spa.  There's a stream shower, whirlpool bath and sauna.  Light therapy is installed to alleviate any winter blues or promote relaxation.

And finally, the bedroom has acoustic-damping walls and windows to keep out any annoying outdoor noise.  Blackout shades do the same for sunlight and street lamps.
