MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -

An international student who went to high school in Wake County riding her bike Wednesday morning was struck and killed.

Captain David Knipes with Myrtle Beach police tells WBTW that a Coast RTA bus was traveling south on Kings Highway at around 10 a.m. when it made a right hand turn onto 9th Avenue North at a green light and hit Olha Marchuk.

Knipes says the Ukrainian student was riding on the sidewalk going south as well when the bus turned, and its back wheels ran over her.

Marchuk went to high school in Wake County at Panther Creek High.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard confirms Marchuk, 20, died just before noon Wednesday.

The driver is not expected to be cited.
