Judge: Paula Deen's Lawyer Must Testify

Posted: Updated:

It appears Paula Deen's best legal effort to prevent one of her attorneys from testifying about her past in court, will blocked by a judge. In court documents filed Thursday, The United States District Court ruled that one of Paula Deen's attorneys, James P. Gerard, must testify in the sexual and racial discrimination case brought by former Deen employee Lisa Jackson.

The case has recently gained national attention and led to the downfall of Deen's Food Network and merchandising empire.

Sources tell WSAV.com Deen's current attorneys were hoping to block Gerard from testifying. In court documents signed July 25th, the order to block the testimony was not granted.

Radar Online reports "Gerard was said to have received "numerous and frequent complaints" about ex-Food Network star Deen, 66, and her brother, Earl "Bubba" Heirs, and their conduct at Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House in Savannah, Ga."

Gerard will be required to complete a deposition on or before August 19th.
