Expo Helps Prepare Community For Severe Weather

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA -

The Chatham Emergency Management Agency along with Home Depot partnered to help those in the area learn more about severe weather. On Saturday, during the hurricane preparedness expo people learned what to have in their emergency kits and the best way to store things.

"The storage containers, I have all my important documents in my house. I have any pictures from the family over the years even my childhood stuff is stored in a plastic container that's stored in the closet. I can just grab that, that's not replaceable," said CEMA Emergency Management Specialist, David Grotyohann.

CEMA said in case family members are separated from one another during a disaster, have a plan for getting back together. Ask an out-of-town relative or friend to serve as the "family contact" and make sure everyone knows who it is and how to reach them.
