Sewer Project Planned for Baldwin Park

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHSIDE SAVANNAH -

Heavy rain like we saw earlier today poses a reoccurring flood risk for one Savannah community.

Now, after years of complaints, the city is looking into the issue.

When it pours, some of the streets in the Baldwin Park area fill with water, causing headaches for homeowners who live in the east side neighborhood.

The city is planning to increase the size of the drainage pipes around Baldwin Park Circle to help with all the water.

Water and Sewer officials say it is one of the lower points in the city, so when the surrounding pipes back up, the water has nowhere else to go. When the sewers were first laid, designers had no idea savannah would be the size it is today.

We're told the project will be up for bids within the month, and the project should begin by the end of the year.
