New video this morning of the Southwest Airlines jet skidding down a runway on Monday, as it attempted to land at New York's LaGuardia Airport. This exclusive video obtained by WNBC shows flight 345's nose on the ground, and sparks flying as it landed. The Federal Aviation Administration says the jet did come to a safe stop. The flight from Nashville had 150 people on board. Port authorities say 12 people were taken to area hospitals.
Also, President Barack Obama says he wants to refocus America's attention on the economy. The President made the comments on Monday night in Washington, DC while speaking to a volunteer group called "Organizing for Action,"which helped him get re-elected. President Obama says he will give a major economic address on Wednesday at Knox College in Illinois. The President says it's also important to continue to push for progress on immigration reform and climate change.
Plus, organizers of a 12th week of protests outside the North Carolina General Assembly have now switched their focus to a new voter identification bill. The North Carolina Chapter of the NAACP rallied Monday afternoon behind the legislative building in Raleigh. Protesters voiced their opposition to the voter identification bill and other legislation that have been adopted by the republican-controlled General Assembly. 70 people were arrested following the rally, bringing the total number arrested in the current legislative session to about 900.
