Savannah AMBUCs Chapter Donates AmTryke During Event

Posted: Updated:

A one of a kind bike donation made the day brighter for one special needs child on Monday.

The giveaway took place during a special celebration hosted at Coach's Corner in honor of the Savannah Chapter of the national Ambucs Organization. The nonprofit presented a young girl named Jasmine with a custom made AmTryke, a therapeutic tricycle for people with disabilities.

Kevin Sheehan is the President of the Savannah AMBUCs Chapter. He say there's no greater joy than putting a smile on a young child's face, especially one facing hard, physical challenges in life, "it is wonderful to be able to change a life and make such an impact. When you see the family change because they can all get out the house and get active, there's nothing like just warms your heart. "

Monday night's event featured a silent auction, plenty of food, fun, music, and a guest appearance by WSAV's Kris Allred. She's scheduled to participate in an October celebrity bowling competition along with WSAV's Ken Slats and 29 other competitors. Proceeds will benefit the local AMBUCs chapter.

To date, more than 15, 000 AmTrykes have been distributed around the world. Last year, the Savannah AMBUCs chapter gave away 42 of the specially made Trykes and hopes to do the same this year.
