Mobile Phone Powered By Urine

Scientists have unveiled the 'world's first' mobile phone powered by URINE.

That's right... mobile phone owners could soon be able to give their batteries a boost with their own urine.

Sounds pretty gross right?  Well, scientists say no not at all.  They say it's the 'ultimate waste product' since it doesn't rely on the erratic nature of the wind or the sun.

They say it's about as eco as it gets.

So far the researchers have been able to generate enough power to enable SMS messaging, web browsing and to make a brief phone call.  But they haven't been able to produce enough power to make a long phone call.

Now I have to admit that I am a little confused as to how this will all work.  And the process isn't completely explained in the article I found.

But I can tell you this... they say it all has the potential to be installed in our bathrooms.  The process would harness the urine and produce sufficient electricity to power showers and lighting - or at least electric shavers. They want to start with a SMART TOILET.
