Update: Charges filed after SUV crashes into Pitt County church

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

The other driver involved in a deadly wreck in Pitt County is now facing charges.

Troopers say 39-year-old Thomas Grindle of Greenville ran a stop sign Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Mills and Ivy Roads. His vehicle collided with an SUV driven by 68-year-old Faye Sadler.

Sadler then lost control and her SUV went into the side of Cedar Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Sadler was transferred to the Vidant Medical Center and died the next day.

A woman is dead after her SUV went into the side of a Pitt County church Tuesday afternoon.

Highway Patrol Troopers tell us the crash happened just after 3 p.m. near the intersection of Mills and Ivy Road in Greenville. Troopers say another vehicle operated by 39-yr.-old Thomas Grindle ran a stop sign then collided with 68-yr.-old Faye Sadler's SUV, sending it toward Cedar Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

Sadler was taken to Vidant Medical Center. Officials said that she died Wednesday morning just before 11 a.m.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Highway Patrol officials said they're in the process of determining whether charges will be filed in the incident.
