Possible Flooding: Ogeechee River

ATTENTION RESIDENTS ALONG THE OGEECHEE RIVER

From the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office:
Per Bulloch County Public Safety, a pond located near Rocky Ford on SR 17 containing approximately 80 acres of fresh water is expected to burst in a short time. This fresh water will flow into the Ogeechee River, causing river levels to rise drastically downstream from Rocky Ford. Residents living on the Ogeechee River should make plans to evacuate to higher ground. The Sheriff's Office is not equipped to rescue residents who choose to remain in their homes despite the rising water levels, so we strongly encourage moving to safer ground until the river drops.

WEATHER FORECAST

Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected in the area this afternoon and evening.  Flooding is a main threat.
