Red Cross Helps St. Helena Man After Fire

Local Red Cross Helps Gentleman Displaced By Home Fire in St. Helena Island

St. Helena Island, S.C., Saturday, June 29, 2013- The local American Red Cross provided disaster relief assistance to a gentleman displaced by a home fire last night in St. Helen Island.

The Red Cross provided lodging, food, clothing and a comfort kit, which included basic hygiene items.

On average the American Red Cross, Palmetto, SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. Since the beginning of the fiscal year, July 1, 2012, the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of 1,656 families and 5,337 individuals affected by disaster.

The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross Chapters http://www.redcross.org/sc/north-charleston/palmetto-region/locations that span 35-counties of South Carolina.
