Tazewell County, VA (WJHL) -

Three people are in jail on charges related to the death of an infant in Tazewell County.

The Tazewell County Sheriff's Office says law enforcement officials arrested Star Adams, Monica Walker and William "Willie" Hilbert after an investigation.

According to the Sheriff's Office, emergency crews found an eight-month-old child not breathing after a 911 call on Wednesday. Investigators say emergency officials took the child to Clinch Valley Medical Center, but the child died.

Walker and Hilbert were charged with causing serious injury to a child under the age of 18, according to deputies. Officers charged Adams with abandonment of the child.

Investigators say the 911 call and concerns from the hospital prompted the investigation.

Walker, Hilbert and Adams are all being held by the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority in Tazewell without bond.

Deputies say more charges are pending based on the results of the autopsy and investigation.
