Wife Charged In Bluffton Dog Park Case

BLUFFTON, S.C. -

As part of an on-going investigation, the Bluffton Police Department arrested Amanda June Mitchell-Grooms Tuesday afternoon for Accessory Before the Fact to Breach of Trust  greater than $10,000 and Accessory After the Fact to Breach of Trust greater than $10,000.

Mitchell-Grooms is charged with aiding her husband, William Grooms, who has been charged with Breach of Trust  greater than $10,000 for funds taken from the Friends of Bluffton Dog Parks between June 2012 and June 2013. 

Mrs. Grooms was the treasurer for the group during the time funds were removed.

Accessory Before the Fact (16-1-40) is a felony and carries the same penalty as the principle offense.  In this case, Breach of Trust greater than $10,000 which carries up to a 10 year sentence. Accessory After the Fact (16-1-55) is a felony and carries up to a 5 year sentence.
