Jasper Co. Residents Fed-up with Unsolved Crimes

Ridgeland, SC -

Tearwornia Woods and her neighbors are afraid of what's happening in their Ridgeland community.....and for good reason.

"Last month my son got murdered right here at approximately 10 o'clock, somebody entered his home and shot him in his head and neck got here at quarter til 11 and when I came down here this whole street was blocked off, my son was laying right here and they wouldn't let me see my boy. We don't know who killed him."

And her son is far from the first victim of violence in their area.

"We have had nine unsolved murders in a year and a half, in one year and a half and nobody know nothing....so we need some help that's why we asked you to come out here, people don't wanna talk but they need to start talking," said Woods.

Earlier this week 20-year-old Shaquille Grant was found shot at Days Inn and his uncle says these crimes have to stop.

"Nobody knows what's going on, nobody coming forward to say anything, nobody's not pulling no information, and its just hard ya know its hard to go day by day," said Aaron Perry.

Hard doesn't begin to describe living in a constant state of fear that these folks describe.

"Its not safe you cant go to the gas station at night time cause you might get killed, and there aint no age limit neither, none old young, medium, whatever, they just out here killing people and no one know nothing and its not right for us,"said Woods.

"You don't know, it could be anyone, and we need some answers, we need closure, not just for Darrius and perry, but for all nine murders that happened here in Jasper county," said Sharon Haywood.

They are sick and tired of waking up and not knowing what will happen to them and their loved ones and they want law enforcement to tell them what's going on.

"We want some answers as to why our loved ones is getting murdered," said Woods.
