EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA -

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has filed charges against a man who struck a teenager as he walked to school in May.

Jonathan Chase Skaggs, 29, is being sought on charges including Serious Injury by Vehicle and Reckless Driving.

Investigators say on May 16, Skaggs was driving recklessly when he struck Dylan Cain, 14, on Glenwood Drive as Cain walked to school.

Cain spent several days in critical condition at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah before he was relocated to a rehabilitation center out of town.

ECSO says investigators spent weeks interviewing witnesses, the victim as well as Skaggs before bringing these charges.

Now they are searching for Skaggs who is from Guyton.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call ECSO at 754-3449.
