Meth suspect causes traffic jam on I-40

MORRISVILLE, N.C. -

A suspect wanted in Tennessee on drug charges was caught during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Morrisville.

A highway patrol trooper made a routine traffic stop on I-40 between Aviation Parkway and Airport Boulevard just after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver, who has not been identified at this time, is wanted in Tennessee for promoting, producing and manufacturing methamphetamine.

During the stop, the trooper discovered a liquid substance which was believed to be hazardous. The SBI said the liquid was not meth, but some items have been submitted to the State Crime Lab for analysis

The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting highway patrol with the investigation.
