Patient Swipes Ambulance From Hospital ER

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. -

Beaufort Police officials are expected to reveal complete charges today against a man accused to stealing an ambulance from Beaufort Memorial Hospital Tuesday. In a story you saw first on WSAV.com, police say Clifton McNeill, 35, of St. Helena, drove away from the emergency room after being delivered there just moments before.

Authorities say the vehicle was taken for about 10 minutes. Police spotted the vehicle nearby and arrested McNeill after a struggle. The vehicle was not damaged , and no one was injured. The suspect now faces possible charges of stealing a vehicle, and possible charges related to driving infractions.

Police are expected to released the official list of charges after the patient is discharged from the hospital. It is unclear what prompted the man to take the vehicle.
